CAUTION! When slicing bread with a knife be careful not to place your fingers in line with the cutting action of the knife. Do not allow children to use this product. Handle with care, knives are very sharp.
I personally hand craft this bread slicing guide in Lincolnton, Georgia from solid 3/4-inch poplar lumber for the side rails and 1/2-inch birch veneer for the bread table. Even though Poplar is softer and less expensive than Oak this guide will last a lifetime with proper care. We are still using the original guide I made out of poplar lumber from 4 years ago and it is like the day it was first used. Clean with a damp cloth. Do not soak with water.
The guide is designed to cut two different thickness of bread slices quickly and easily horizontally. Guides are available in various combination of sizes. The slice thickness sizes are 3/8 plus 1/2 inches or 5/16 plus 1/2 inches or 1/4 plus 3/8 inches. At checkout simply select the thickness size you wish to order.
The pictures show a loaf of bread that measures 5 1/2 inches wide x 7 inches long x 6 1/2 inches tall. By choosing the side of the guide you can slice your bread into the thickness the two sides are designed to cut. My goals were to make it easy to use, affordable, durable, easily stored and most of all slice's straight slices of bread every time.
The slicing guide ships with a anti slip mat that is placed under the slicing guide to stop it from sliding on your countertop while slicing.
Your order will ship free the same day or the next business day from when I receive the paid order.
Videos are available showing the guide being used by going to “You Tube” and searching for “Mystery Lathe”.
A few words of advice:
The 5 1/2-inch guide has an overall width of 7 inches and will not work well with a short 10-inch bread knife. I use one that is 12 inches long.
The bread needs to rest on your counter and cool down to room temperature. I find that the longer it rests the better it will slice. The minimum thickness you can obtain has a lot to do with the density and softness of the bread you are cutting.
Use caution while slicing with a knife to avoid injury. Knife not included with guide.

I have been a sourdough bread baker for eight years. Sourdough is very dense at times with a super hard crust. The slicer worked so well! I got wonderful thin slices on the one side of the slicer, then flipped it over, and got perfect toast slices on the second side. I highly recommend this product. Very well-made.
