This beautiful vase was hand turned out of aromatic cedar on my wood lathe. The wood grain patterns and color variations are stunning to say the least. It is absolutly gorgeous! As in most old cedar there are a few checks (cracks) that run the length of the vase. They do not hurt anything. They lend themselves to the overall beauty of this piece. They are shown in the pictures. If this bothers you, don't buy it.
I have applied a coat of water proof epoxy to the interior of the vase. It is my hope that it will be waterproof......but.....I wont gurantee it. My suggestion is to use this vase as a dry flower vase. Or...it is gorgeous just to display empty.
My wood turnings are hand turned on my 50 plus year old wood lathe from down cedar trees laying on the forest floor for years near my shop.
I can't guarantee natures work. I can only assure you that when I am working on the wood lathe all the skill and ability I have will go into what nature has provided me. My craftsmanship is in every piece I turn.

Why such a hard line policy?
The wood I am using to make each item (this does not apply to Bread slicing guides since they are made of new material) has been laying on the forest floor for many years. It has been subjected to insects, rain, wood decay and green moss. Then baked in the Georgia heat and humidity.
So.......the finished item can and may have cracks, bug holes, wood decay, nicks, marks, green moss and be discolored due to its exposure to nature over the years.
That is why....each wood item I make is so unique and one of a kind. They are different!! That is why you are buying it!!
I cant guarantee natures work. I can only assure you that when I am working on the wood all the skill and ability I have will go into what nature has provided me. My craftsmanship is in every piece I turn.
What happens after the piece is done in the mystery wood shop will be a mystery to all.
