If you want a bread slicing guide that works and allows you to chose between two thicknesses of bread slices, small in size and weight and not spend a lot of money, here it is. No fancy adjustments on this guide just flip it over for two thicknesses of your choice. By resting the cutting knife on the top of the slicing guide and moving it back thru the bread a perfect slice of bread will be cut every time. Flip the guide over and insert your knife into the slot and cut your second thickness. With a little practice you can do it every time. Plus this guide will work with the optional "Vertical Base Attachment" so that you can slice bread vertically if you desire. The "Vertical Base Attachment" is available on this sight.

This guide is made of solid 3/4" oak side rails and 1/2" oak veneer for the bread tray. I use a hand rubbed food safe mineral oil for the finish.

The finish used is food grade mineral oil that meets US FDA requirements for food contact surfaces, and is safe for all food preparation surfaces. The penetrating quality of food-grade mineral oil brings out the depth of grain in wood and helps prevent drying and cracking.

This guide series is lite in weight and very compact at only 2 1/2" tall. Thus making it super easy to handle and store.

This guide is designed to accept bread loaves up to 5 1/2" wide. If your loaves are wider than 5 1/2" I make 6 1/2" and a 7 1/2" wide "Horizontal Guides" that accepts loaves up to 7 1/2" wide.

All shipments are shipped USPS Priority mail and insured by the USPS for loss up to $50. Your order will ship the same day or the next business day from when I receive the paid order. Transit time is usually 2 to 3 days.

Videos are available showing the guide being used by going to “You Tube” and searching for “mystery lathe”.

This is a quality product that will last a life time if taken care of properly. All bread slicing guide are made by myself in Lincolnton, Georgia. No plastic parts to break. NEVER SOAK IN WATER. Simply wipe the guides surfaces with a damp cloth when it needs cleaning.

A few words of advice:

*****IMPORANT***** The guides cutting slot for the knife is 3/16" wide. If you are going to be using an electric knife, make sure the blade assembly thickness is less than 3/16". Make sure you check the thickness at the tip of the blade where the two blades are connected together. If it measures 3/16" or greater you will not be able to get the blade into the slot to slice your bread. We use a Cuisinart electric knife and it fits the slot without any problem.

The guide is over 7" wide and will not work with a short 8" bread knife. I use one that is 12" long. They are available on line or most home good stores. Our electric knife has a blade length of 7 1/2" and works fine since it does the sawing, not you as in a bread knife that needs to saw back and forth.

It has been my experience that even though the guide has a 1/2" slice thickness measurement for example, the actual thickness can very slightly. Loaf density or pressure applied by the cutter does effect the slices thickness by a small amount above or below the measured 1/2". As you gain experience in the use of the guide, you will be slicing your bread like a pro every time.

The bread needs to rest on your counter and cool down to room temperature. We find that the longer it rest the better it will slice. We let ours rest for at least 4 hours before slicing.

Use caution while slicing with a knife to avoid injury. Knife not included.

Why such a hard line policy?

The wood I am using to make each item (this does not apply to Bread slicing guides since they are made of new material) has been laying on the forest floor for many years. It has been subjected to insects, rain, wood decay and green moss. Then baked in the Georgia heat and humidity.

So.......the finished item can and may have cracks, bug holes, wood decay, nicks, marks, green moss and be discolored due to its exposure to nature over the years.

That is why....each wood item I make is so unique and one of a kind. They are different!! That is why you are buying it!!

I cant guarantee natures work. I can only assure you that when I am working on the wood all the skill and ability I have will go into what nature has provided me. My craftsmanship is in every piece I make by hand in my wood working shop located in Lincolnton, Georgia.

What happens after the piece is done in the mystery wood shop will be a mystery to all.

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM YOU ARE LOOKING AT CAREFULLY AND STUDY THE PICTURES CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE. Remember what you see in the picture is what you get, minus color variation due to monitors and lighting conditions.

No exchanges, returns or refunds will be made with the excepton of Bread Slicing Guides.
