Our slicing guides are made entirely of wood, without any plastic parts.

I’m here to help you choose the right slicing guide and width. Here are some things to consider:

1. All my guides slice loaves horizontally. Place the loaf face down, insert the bread knife into the slot, and slice to your desired thickness.
2. For round loaves, cut them in half. Place the cut face down on the guide and slice. The diameter doesn’t matter; the height does. For example, an 8-inch round loaf that’s 5 1/2 inches tall can be sliced with any 5 1/2-inch wide guide. If your loaf is over 8 inches in diameter, use the open style guide. You can easily slice any diameter round loaf, as long as the height doesn’t exceed the width of the guides.

Slicing bread is a breeze with this guide! Slice the bread horizontally, up to 7 inches wide, into 3/8, 1/2, or 7/8-inch thick slices. Adjust the thickness by moving the bread tray to different slots. It’s easy to use and made from solid oak hardwood for the frame and 1/4-inch veneer for the bread table.

Silicone tabs on all corners prevent the guide from sliding on the counter.

Check out my slicing guides on YouTube and search for “Mystery Lathe” to see how they work.

To slice horizontally, rest the loaf on its end in the guide and insert the bread knife. You can quickly and easily slice any of the three thicknesses.

I’ve added special “Box Joints” to the corners of the slicing guide for strength and aesthetics. This feature provides a built-in tin backstop. This “3 CUT” guide is designed to last for generations. I finish the oak with food-safe mineral oil for a touch of elegance. It dries out over time, but you can refresh it with another coat of food-safe mineral oil or cutting board oil.

Here are some tips for using a horizontal slicing guide:

- Let the bread cool before slicing.
- Use a sharp bread knife.
- Keep the guide clean and dry.

Enjoy perfectly sliced bread!

I’ve sold hundreds of horizontal slicing guides across the US, and 99% of users are delighted with their purchase. You can see this in my reviews. After selling over 2,000 guides, I’ve gained valuable insights. If you’re struggling with hand-slicing, I highly recommend using the vertical guide. It’s significantly easier than horizontal slicing. However, if you’re skilled, horizontal slicing is the fastest and most convenient way to achieve perfectly even slices. Additionally, if you’re not satisfied with your purchase, you can get a full refund within 30 days. Remember, practice makes perfect!

I strongly advise using a bread knife with a blade length of at least 12 inches. A shorter knife won’t cut effectively. While you can try a 10-inch knife, you may encounter frustration as the blade tip may fall out of the guides slot. Please note that I don’t include the knife with the order.

To maintain the longevity of your guide, avoid placing it in the dishwasher or submerging it in water. If necessary, wipe it off with a dry or damp cloth.

If you have any questions, encounter issues, or face problems with your guide, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call or text me at 315-868-3453 or email me at “mysterylathe@gmail.com”. I’m here to ensure your complete satisfaction.

While the guide is not excessively sharp, it’s important to exercise caution while slicing. Please refrain from allowing children to use it. If you have any concerns about potential injuries, you can return the guide for a full refund. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us.

The finished product is protected with food-grade mineral oil to enhance its durability.

Super fast shipping! This is a great item and is exactly as described. I'm still getting used to using it but it's a very handy tool.

Very well-made and solid. Having the video description of how to use it seems like it might be a dumb thing to do, but it is not it’s perfect! Now, all I have to do is buy a newer bread knife with a longer blade. I am completely happy with this

Great product works really well

I purposely went through 2 separate bakings of yeast bread, a month apart, before this review. Wanted to ensure my review was accurate. Y'all....... This guide is superior to EVERYTHING else I have tried with the exception of a commercial slicer. It's freaking AMAZING. I also invested in a high quality bread knife and paired with this handmade guide, is HEAVEN. https://a.co/d/6fOsAJy Thank you for creating this marvel!

The Bread Slicing Guide is a functional tool that makes slicing whole loaves into evenly cut slices easy. But it's also a piece of art. The craftmanship is beautiful.....tongue and groove joints in contrasting woods, a checkerboard stop at the end, also in contrasting woods, a food grade finish that enriches the wood.......It's beautiful. Thank you for your excellent handwork, clear instructions (including YouTube videos), and excellent communication!
