I carefully make all my bread slicing guides right here in Lincolnton, Georgia.

All my guides are made without any plastic. The side rails are made of solid Oak, which is super hard. The bread table is made from two layers of Birch Lauan Sheeting glued together to make it super strong.

When you pick a slicing guide and width, here are a few things to think about:

1. All my guides use the same way to slice bread. Just put the loaf face down, put the bread knife in the right spot, and slice to how thick you like it.
2. For round loaves, just cut them in half. Put the cut side down on the guide and slice. The height of the loaf is more important than how big it is. For example, an 8-inch round loaf that is 5 1/2 inches tall can be sliced with any of the 5 1/2-inch wide guides. Check out the last few pictures—they show my first guide, which I made 6 years ago, still in use by my wife after she sliced three different kinds of bread into 1/2-inch slices in less than 5 minutes! One of the loaves was over 7 inches round, and she did it on the old 5 1/2-inch wide guide.

I have a great 7-inch wide guide that works with three different slicing thicknesses. Just keep in mind that these thicknesses are just estimates because bread slicing can be a bit different.

The eight silicon buttons on top of the guide boards keep it from sliding while you’re slicing.

There’s a removable backstop you can use while slicing horizontally, like in the photos. I don’t use it when slicing horizontally myself, but I get asked for it sometimes. If you have a hard time holding the knife, this backstop will be a big help while you’re slicing. Pick the one that comes with the backstop and the Horizontal Guide.

I wanted to make a guide that’s easy to use, not too expensive, super strong, easy to store, and most of all, that always makes straight slices of bread.

I’ve put together some videos on YouTube that show how the guide works. Just search for “Mystery Lathe” or “William Frank” to find them!

Here are a few helpful tips for using a horizontal slicing guide:

I’ve sold lots of these guides across the USA, and I’ve heard lots of great things from users. After selling over 2,000 guides, I think a vertical guide would be a great choice for anyone who struggles to slice bread with their hands. Horizontal slicing takes a bit more practice, but it’s quicker and easier for those with great hand-eye coordination. If you’re not completely happy with your purchase, please return it for a full refund within 30 days.

I suggest using a bread knife with a blade length of at least 12 inches. A 10-inch knife might be a bit tricky to handle well. Just a heads-up, the knife isn’t included with the guide.

Please keep your guide dry and out of water or the dishwasher. If it gets dirty, just wipe it off with a dry or damp cloth.

The knife is sharp and can cut bread and you! Keep it out of reach of children. If you’re worried about getting hurt, please return it for a full refund.

The guide is finished with food-safe mineral oil.

Very nicely made tool. Your instruction sheet had me rolling, too. "If you cut yourself, it's not my fault." Such a funny guy.

My favorite bread making tool. I struggled to cut freehand, but didn’t want a bulky slicer. This is simple, space saving, and does exactly what I need with no frills! The craftsmanship and personal note make me feel even better that I didn’t go with a poor quality Amazon product. Thank you thank you thank you!

Shipped out super quickly - so quickly in fact that I had to wait to leave my review until I baked a loaf of sourdough and could test the cutting board. I love it and it works exactly as described. No more weird, uneven slices of varying widths. I also love that it's beautifully crafted, easy to store and doesn't take up much space.

Beautifully crafted piece, would purchase from this seller again!

Nice quality item and it shipped timely and arrived early. It's nice to be able to slice bread at all the same width (I'm horrible trying to do it on my own) and to have different width options.
