When selecting a slicing guide and width, consider the following:

1. All my guides employ the same horizontal slicing technique. Place the loaf face down, insert the bread knife into the designated slot, and slice to your preferred thickness.
2. For round loaves, cut them in half. Position the cut face down on the guide and slice. The height of the loaf is more crucial than its diameter. For instance, an 8-inch round loaf that stands 5 1/2 inches tall can be sliced using any of the 5 1/2-inch wide guides. Take note of the last few pictures. They show the first guide I built 6 years ago still in use by my wife after she sliced three different types of bread in less than 5 minutes into 1/2 thick slices recently. One of the loafs was over 7-inches round and she did it on the old 5 1/2-inch wide guide.

I offer a versatile 7-inch wide guide that accommodates three different slicing thicknesses. Please note that these thicknesses are approximate due to variations in bread slicing.

The eight silicon buttons on the top of the guide boards prevent it from sliding during slicing.

I meticulously handcraft all my bread slicing guides in Lincolnton, Georgia. This guide is constructed from solid 3/4-inch oak lumber for the side rails and 1/2-inch veneer for the bread table.

My primary objective was to create a user-friendly, affordable, durable, easily storable, and most importantly, a guide that consistently produces straight slices of bread.

Here are a few valuable tips for utilizing a horizontal slicing guide:

After selling over 2,000 guides, I recommend a vertical guide for individuals who find it challenging to slice bread with their hands. Horizontal slicing demands more skill, but it’s faster and easier for those with excellent hand-eye coordination. If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, please return it for a full refund within 30 days.

I recommend using a bread knife with a blade length of at least 12 inches. A 10-inch knife may be difficult to handle effectively. Please note that the knife is not included in the guide.

Keep your guide out of water or the dishwasher. If it gets dirty, wipe it off with a dry or damp cloth.

The knife is sharp and can cut bread and you. Keep it out of reach of children. If you’re worried about getting hurt, return it for a full refund.
