CAUTION! When slicing bread with a knife be careful not to place your fingers in line with the cutting action of the knife. Do not allow children to use this product. Handle with care, knives are very sharp.

The guide is designed to cut two different thickness of bread 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch quickly and easily horizontally at a very affordable price. The minimum thickness you can obtain has a lot to do with the density and softness of the bread you are cutting. The pictures show a loaf of bread that measures 5 1/2 inches wide x 7 inches long x 6 1/2 inches tall. By choosing the 1/2 inch side or the 3/8 inch side of the guide you can slice your bread into the thickness the two sides are designed to cut with ease. My goals were to make it easy to use, affordable, durable, easily stored and most of all slice straight slices of bread every time. It also needed to be compatible using either an electric or bread knife.

A Vertical Base does not ship with and is not available for this Horizontal guide.

The slicing guide ships with a anti slip mat that is placed under the slicing guide to stop it from sliding on your countertop while slicing. If your mat wares out you can purchase one locally.

I personally hand craft these bread slicing guide in Lincolnton, Georgia from solid 3/4 inch poplar lumber for the side rails and 1/2 inch birch veneer for the bread table. Even though Poplar is softer and less expensive than Oak this guide will last a lifetime with proper care. We are still using the original guide I made out of poplar lumber from 4 years ago and it is like the day it was first used. Clean with a damp cloth. Do not soak with water.

All shipments are shipped FREE via USPS Priority mail. Your order will ship the same day or the next business day from when I receive the paid order. Transit time is usually 2 to 3 days

Videos are available showing the guide being used by going to “You Tube” and searching for “Mystery Lathe”.

A few words of advice:

The 5 1/2 inch guide has an overall width of 7 inches and will not work well with a short 10 inch bread knife. I use one that is 12 inches long.

The guides cutting slots for the knife are 3/16 inches wide. If you are going to be using an electric knife make sure you check the thickness at the tip of the blade where the two blades are connected together. If it measures 3/16 inches or greater you will not be able to get the blade into the slot to slice your bread.

The bread needs to rest on your counter and cool down to room temperature. I find that the longer it rest the better it will slice. The minimum thickness you can obtain has a lot to do with the density and softness of the bread you are cutting.

Use caution while slicing with a knife to avoid injury. Knife not included with guide.

Returns and exchange details

No exchanges, returns or refunds will be made for items made out of wood I find in the forest surrounding my home.

Bread slicing guides may be returned if unused and in original condition. The shipper is responsable for the return freight.

Shipping damage or loss will be covered by USPS shipping insurance.

Why such a hard line policy?

The wood I am using to make each item (this does not apply to Bread slicing guides since they are made of new material) has been laying on the forest floor for many years. It has been subjected to insects, rain, wood decay and green moss. Then baked in the Georgia heat and humidity.

So.......the finished item can and may have cracks, bug holes, wood decay, nicks, marks, green moss and be discolored due to its exposure to nature over the years.

That is why....each wood item I make is so unique and one of a kind. They are different!! That is why you are buying it!!

I cant guarantee natures work. I can only assure you that when I am working on the wood all the skill and ability I have will go into what nature has provided me. My craftsmanship is in every piece I make by hand in my wood working shop located in Lincolnton, Georgia.

What happens after the piece is done in the mystery wood shop will be a mystery to all.

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM YOU ARE LOOKING AT CAREFULLY AND STUDY THE PICTURES CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE. Remember what you see in the picture is what you get, minus color variation due to monitors and lighting conditions.

No exchanges, returns or refunds will be made with the excepton of Bread Slicing Guides.

This bread slicing guide is the bomb!! I make all of our bread & I make several large loaves of honey wheat sandwich bread twice a month. Finding a decent bread-slicing guide has been a challenge! I've used vintage commercial plastic and wood ones from etsy and flea markets but none of them have held up over a couple of years. And so many of the handmade ones I found were super expensive, I was beginning to lose hope when I came across this Mystery Lathe guide. It is so simple, yet works so well. It takes up much less space in my bread box than my former slicer guides, too! But, most importantly of all, my husband approves of it so it's a win! And I was so impressed with the seller, he sent me contact info if I needed him, and he shipped it so quickly! I'm beyond pleased with our purchase! Highly recommend this!!
