CAUTION! When slicing bread with a knife be careful not to place your fingers in line with the cutting action of the knife. Do not allow children to use this product. Handle with care, knives are very sharp.
I personally hand craft each Oak bread slicing guide in Lincolnton, Georgia one at a time from solid 3/4-inch oak lumber for the side rails and 1/2-inch oak veneer for the bread table. It will last a lifetime with proper care. Just clean with a damp cloth. Do not soak with water.
If you ever have any questions, issues or problems with your guide please call or text my cell phone: 315-868-3453 or email me at "mysterylathe@gmail.com". Give me a chance to make things right. Don't be surprised when I just say hello upon answering. This really is my personal cell phone. I'm 73 and this is my hobby not a money grabbing business.
The guide is designed to cut three different thickness of bread 3/8-inch, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch quickly and easily horizontally. Select the width of guide that matches you loaf width. The minimum thickness you can obtain has a lot to do with the density and softness of the bread you are cutting. My goals were to make it easy to use, affordable, durable, easily stored and most of all slice's straight slices of bread every time. Plus be usable by right or left-handed people.
The slicing guide ships with a anti slip mat that is placed under the slicing guide to stop it from sliding on your countertop while slicing. If your mat wares out, you can purchase one locally.
The finish used is food grade mineral oil that meets US FDA requirements for food contact surfaces and is safe for all food preparation surfaces. The penetrating quality of food-grade mineral oil brings out the depth of grain in wood and helps prevent drying and cracking.
Your order will ship free the same day or the next business day from when I receive the paid order.
Videos are available showing the guide being used by going to “You Tube” and searching for “Mystery Lathe”.
A few words of advice:
For the 6 1/2 inch (overall width is 8 inches) and 5 1/2 inch (over all width is 7 inches) guides I use a 12-inch bread knife.
The bread needs to rest on your counter and cool down to room temperature. I find that the longer it rests the better it will slice. The minimum thickness you can obtain has a lot to do with the density and softness of the bread you are cutting.
If your bread thickness needs are different than those listed above, message me your required thicknesses. It’s quite possible I can custom build a guide to meet your specific needs.
Use caution while slicing with a knife to avoid injury. Knife not included with guide.

At first I bought one of these, and the communication with the seller, the speed of shipment, and the quality of the workmanship went above and beyond my expectations (which are usually very high!). In fact, this wooden bread slicer was so fantastic, I ordered two more within a couple of weeks. I'm using one for myself nearly every day and the others will be outstanding gifts to my family. And to coin a phrase, it truly is the next best thing to sliced bread! You will not regret purchasing from Mystery Lathe.

Awesome, I did wait until I received my 14" knife before reviewing. It works perfectly.
